GatorBar Glass – #4 Rebar Available for Pre-order!

AHMEEK, Michigan – Neuvokas Corp, a leading composite rebar manufacturer, announces the expansion of GatorBar Glass production to include #4 sized composite rebar.  Available from its network of retailers and distributors beginning in July 2020, #4 rebar, comparable in tensile strength to #5 steel, will be the second composite rebar product released by Neuvokas this year.

GatorBar Glass is a glass fiber, composite rebar (GFRP) that is manufactured in Michigan using 100% USA made materials.  GatorBar Glass offers:

• The most economical composite rebar on the market

• Priced competitive to steel at comparable thickness

• Priced substantially better than steel at comparable strength and performance

• 2x stronger in tensile strength than steel

• 7x lighter in weight than steel

• Zero exposure to global supply chain delays

• Zero-rust even in high chloride concrete and highly corrosive applications

GatorBar is produced with an advanced, sliver reducing, polyester free, proprietary resin system.  Polyester resin is often used in other low-cost FRP rebar products and is specifically banned from use in composite rebar by the American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

Ken Keranen, Neuvokas COO, said “We’ve been overwhelmed by the industry’s response to #3 GatorBar Glass introduced earlier this year…the roll-out and acceptance have simply been amazing!  With a #4 offering we will be further positioned to advance composite rebar’s utilization throughout the concrete reinforcement space.  We are looking forward to taking pre-orders and introducing #4 to the market in July.”

About Neuvokas Corp:  Neuvokas Corp is based in Ahmeek, MI Michigan and produces industry leading composite rebar products for the concrete space using its proprietary and patented, high-speed manufacturing processes.  Founded in 2013 by Erik Kiilunen and Ken Keranen from a simple observation:  advances in manufacturing and material sciences would allow composite rebar to be produced competitively with its steel counterpart at higher levels of performance.

I wanted to drop a line and comment on your GatorBar product. This is the second project we’ve used it on and the first one that we used a power rake with. We placed the bar 18” OCBW and chaired it to 2 1/2” for a 5” slab. The GatorBar worked well, in particular we noticed how it rebounded back to the center of the slab after we drove over it, with steel rebar the rebar would often end up bent and left at the bottom of the slab, where it does nothing for crack control. Also, the labor savings on rebar placement was significant and I know the crew appreciated not having to wrestle with the heavy steel. We look forward to using it again on future projects.
